Alexandra Collins, MSc, is a Research Assistant with the BC Centre on Substance Use and a PhD Candidate in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University (SFU). Her doctoral research explores the intersection of social geographies, housing instability, and experiences of overdose among women who use drugs within the context of overlapping housing and overdose crises in Vancouver, Canada. Alexandra obtained a Master of Science degree from SFU in 2015, where she studied the impact of international funding stipulations on HIV programs in Sierra Leone. Alexandra has numerous first-author publications in leading public health and addictions journals. She has received several awards during her doctoral studies, including the President’s PhD Scholarship from SFU and a Mitacs Accelerate Award. Her doctoral work is currently supported through a three-year Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship.
