Zak Matieschyn

Zak Matieschyn, MN, NP(F), is a family nurse practitioner in the West Kootenays and Director of the Addiction Medicine Nurse Practitioner Fellowship with the BC Centre on Substance. Zak works in a broad scope family practice with a focus on marginalized populations (e.g., addictions, mental health, infectious disease, and transgender health). He recently completed a term as president of the Association of Registered Nurses of BC. Zak’s clinical and research interests include exploring the implementation of best practice addiction care in rural healthcare environments, investigating evidence-informed treatment for occupational addiction, and advocating for changes to health and social policy which will improve both the treatment of addiction and its upstream causes.
