Dr. Mary Clare Kennedy

Mary Clare Kennedy, PhD, is a Research Scientist with the BC Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU). She is also a Canada Research Chair in Substance Use Policy and Practice Research and an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan. Dr. Kennedy’s research focuses on social-structural dimensions of health and interventions designed to improve health outcomes among people who use drugs, with a current focus on safe supply programs and supervised consumption services. She applies both quantitative and qualitative methods in her research and has published numerous scientific papers in leading addiction, public health, and HIV/AIDS journals. Dr. Kennedy holds a PhD in Population and Public Health from UBC and a Master of Arts in Social Dimensions of Health from the University of Victoria.
