Mark Gurvis

Chief Executive Officer at Ronald S. Roadburg Foundation

Mark Gurvis became CEO of the Ronald S. Roadburg Foundation in February 2022.  One of Vancouver’s largest private foundations, the Foundation works to build and strengthen community, support vulnerable populations, and address complex issues facing society, including climate action and addiction.  The Foundation is rooted in the Greater Vancouver/BC Jewish community and addresses need within the Jewish community and beyond.

From 2013-2020 he served as Executive Vice President of Jewish Federations of North America, the number two professional position in the Federation movement’s network organization. In that role he led the organization’s strategic planning and emergency response efforts, and supervised numerous operating areas, including planning and research, Jewish education, the Washington DC and Jerusalem offices, as well as operational areas such as finance, human resources and IT.

Mark was CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver from 2002 – 2013. During his tenure, the Federation underwent significant growth in annual fundraising as well as planned giving assets under management, and dramatically enhanced the Greater Vancouver Jewish community’s profile and influence within Canadian Jewish communities. Prior to his tenure with the Vancouver Federation, Mark worked from 1984 – 2002 at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland in a variety of roles, including as Associate Vice President, Planning Director, and as Co-Executive Director of the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland.

He also now serves on the board of the Clean Economy Fund, a Canadian public foundation that works to rally more philanthropic engagement in high-impact climate solutions.
