The BC Centre on Substance Use engages three key community groups affected by substance use across British Columbia:
- People with lived and living experience of substance use
- Family members and caregivers
- Members of the recovery community
The BCCSU has brought together these community groups from across the province to identify shared priorities and ensure that policy and practice is informed by community knowledge, experiences, and expertise.
Examples of work include: developing resources for people who use drugs and families affected by substance use, best practice guidelines for health care service providers and policy makers, and recommendations for standards of treatment and recovery – ultimately informing how BC’s substance use system of care is shaped.
